North Yorkshire police step-up drugs fight

North Yorkshire Police charged nine people this week as they continue to combat drugs across the county.
As part of a major, long-running investigation into the supply of drugs in the Scarborough area, five men were charged this week on a number of counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs during the summer of 2010.
Two men from Manchester, aged 29 and 33, and a 32 year old local man were charged today (8th July 2011) and a 45 year old man from Scarborough was charged earlier in the week.
All four men are due to appear at Scarborough Magistrates court on Monday 25 July 2011.
Thomas Robert Hunt, aged 34, from Manchester, who was involved in the conspiracy was also charged earlier this week and has already appeared before Scarborough Magistrates. His case was committed to York crown court, where he is due to appear on Monday 11th July 2011.
A further man, aged 31, is also believed to be involved in the conspiracy and is currently being sought by police to face charges.
In a separate case, four people have been charged by police in Selby for conspiracy to produce cannabis.
Three men aged, 58, 48, 32 and a 46 year old woman, were charged this morning and will appear before Selby Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 4th August 2011. The 46 year old woman has also been charged with money laundering.
The charges relate to incident in September 2010, when officers attending a fire in Wistow, discovered evidence that a cannabis factory had been in operation at the property.
