9:28am 6th July 2011

Police are advising parents to be vigilant and remind their children of the risks of stranger danger after an alleged accosting incident in Anlaby.

A13-year-old girl was walking to school at Hessle High School along Lowfield Road in Anlaby when she states a red Renault Clio car pulled up alongside her and the driver and single occupant, a white man, asked her for directions to a local supermarket.

The incident happened opposite the Spire Hospital at approximately 0830hrs on Tuesday 05 July 2011.

The teenager gave the man directions and he then asked her if she wanted a lift.

When the girl declined the driver repeated the offer and the girl again declined.

The car drove off, turning round and going back in the direction from which it had come.

The driver is described as a white man, aged in his 40s, with balding, mousey brown hair.

The intentions of this man are unclear but officers would like to speak to him as well as any witnesses who were in the area at the time and saw the Clio or the man talking to the teenager.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Humberside Police on 0845 60 60 222 referring to log 141 of 05 July 2011.
