Fatal crash on B1257

The collision occurred at around 11.30am this morning (Monday 4th July) near to Cross Holme.

The crash involved a motorcyclist travelling from Stokesley towards Helmsley  who was in collision with a deer.

Both the motorcyclist and deer died at the scene of the collision.

North Yorkshire Police can now advise that the deceased was a 65 year old man from Brotton near Saltburn in the  Cleveland area. He was riding a white Ducati motorcycle.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was travelling between Stokesley and Bilsdale this morning, who either saw the white Ducati motorcycle or witnessed the actual collision. 

Anyone with any  information should contact TC Graham Waller at North Yorkshire Police on 0845 60 60 247, quoting reference 200 of 4th July.

The road was closed and reopened at around 3pm today.

Officers are not yet in a position to release the deceased identity.
