All 12 students from the Sixth Form will be graduating with either a BTEC National Diploma in Health & Social Care or a BTEC First Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. Students will be going on to a range of destinations from the Academy, from First Degrees in Psychology and Nursing, Foundation degrees in Child Care and Social Sciences, modern apprenticeships and employment.

Mr Andrew Chubb, Academy Principal said:

“We are absolutely delighted that the Archbishop has extended a welcome to the students and their families at Bishopthorpe to celebrate their successes.  We are very proud of our students’ achievements, and are sure that they will have a truly memorable day at the Palace.”

The Archbishop of York added:

“I am pleased to welcome the students, their parents and teachers to Bishopthorpe today for the first graduation service for the Archbishop Sentamu Academy Sixth Form. What a wonderful achievement! My prayer for all at the Academy is that you have the courage to have dreams that will transform not only your lives, but the lives of all those you meet, for the better.”

Graduate Student Shaunna Dixon said:

“I am so pleased that I went to Archbishop 6th Form College and carried on with my education. It has been a good two years and now it has sadly come to an end. The teachers were excellent in getting us through our course. I am so pleased that I have passed and really excited about going to Bishopthorpe Palace and graduating with my friends and family. I thank all the staff at Archbishop 6th Form College for helping me.”

“It’s just great to have had the opportunity to be given the chance for a graduation. It will help us so much with moving on to achieve what we want to do.”
