A man's body has been found on the East Coast Mainline between Thirsk and York.

I've been in touch with the British Transport Police:

Four lines of the East Coast Mainline were originally closed whilst inquiries were carried out.

Minster FM understand it was an airport express train that struck the man on the East Coast main line north of York this afternoon.

Police and paramedics were called to the track near Station Hotel, Tollerton, between Thirsk and York at 4.20pm.

The man was declared dead at the scene.

No details of his identification have been released.

Police are preparing a file for the coroner.
