Death in police custody - woman identified

The woman, who died in police custody in York last Thursday, has now been formally named.
She was 31 year old Toni Emma Speck from York.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is continuing it's investigation in to her death.
They want witnesses who saw Ms Speck ahead of her arrest on Bootham last Thursday to come forward.
The IPCC is investigating the circumstances surrounding Ms Speck's death and continues to appeal for witnesses to the events of Thursday 2nd June.
At around 2.50pm a man flagged down North Yorkshire Police officers on Bootham, York and raised concerns about a woman's behaviour.
Officers responded and the woman was detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act.
She was taken to Fulford Road Police Station in a marked police van.
However, she was later found collapsed in her cell at around 6pm.
Paramedics were called and the woman was taken to York District Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 6.48pm.
A post mortem was carried out on 3th June.
Further tests are awaited before a cause of death can be established.
