A woman's been threated with a knife at a service station in Selby.

It happened on Bank Holiday Monday at the Millgate Services when a man demanded cash from a cashier.

She refused and triggered the alarm - forcing him to flee empty handed.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his mid-20s, about 6ft tall with a stocky build.

At the time of the offence he was wearing a royal blue "beanie" style balaclava with the eyes cut out, a white tee shirt over a red or burgundy top, blue trousers and brown shoes. He was also wearing blue latex gloves.

Detective Sergeant Ash Khan, of Selby CID, said:

"This was a distressing incident which naturally left the woman working behind the counter shaken and upset.
"I am appealing to anyone with information about this attempted robbery to come forward to the police as a matter of urgency."

If you can assist with this investigation please contact DS Ash Khan at Selby Police Station on 0845 60 60 24 7 quoting reference number 12110088486. Or Crimestoppers anonymously on  0800 555 111.
