Easter Egg hunts in Yorkshire
12:00am 24th April 2011
Eating with family and friends, enjoying a day out with loved ones, walking in the country and Easter egg hunts may be among the traditional ways to spend Easter, but with so many of us exhausted by the hectic pace of life, a new study shows we'll use our long weekends to watch the TV, sleep in and catch up on chores around the house instead.
Whilst two thirds of Brits are planning on spending this Easter with their family, many have no plans to do anything outside of what they would ordinarily do on any other weekend.
Many of us would love to go on an Easter egg hunt or a family outing over the upcoming long weekend, however according to a new study, a good percentage have not planned to do anything out of the ordinary this Easter.
That's despite the fact that a third of people see family outings, and a quarter a traditional walk in the country, as perfect Easter pursuits yet only around 15% of us think we'll have the chance to this Easter.
The study into family traditions during Easter also found that over half of parents have never been on an Easter egg hunt, while less than 40% have taken their kids on a hunt.
So, if you are keen to make this Easter a little bit special what can you do?
I'm joined now by Ben Shephard and Joe Llyod from The National Trust who are keen to get families reconnecting over the break by taking part in some traditional Easter activities. As part of that, they are backing the Cadbury's and National Trust Easter Egg Trails which is taking place at over 270 National Trust properties across the country this year and they has all the details of what's happening in your area.
The National Trust and Cadbury have teamed up to run Easter Egg Trails for
families across the country (National Trust and National Trust for Scotland)
