Isabel Suckling

12:01am 19th April 2011

York choirgirl, Isabel Suckling, has been shortlisted for Album of the Year at the Classical Brit Awards 2011.

She's nominated alongside her manager Alid Jones' Christmas Gift release.

The pair will compete against other bestselling classical acts including The Priests, Russell Watson and the Benedictine Nuns of Notre-Dame, for the coveted prize, which is voted for by the public.

Conductor Sir Charles MacKerras, who died last year, scored a nomination for Best Male Artist, as did tenor Rolando Villazon and pianist Antonio Pappano.

Trumpeter Alison Balsom, violinist Nicola Benedetti and Dame Mitsuko Uchida will compete in the Best Female Artist category at the ceremony, to be held at London's Royal Albert Hall on 12th May.
