12:36pm 5th April 2011

A York man's been arrested after a shooting incident in Essex.

On Monday, two men were shot at with a catapult as they left the courts in Chelmsford.

Neither were injured, and a man from Huntington was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

He's now been bailed until June 11th 2011.

The disturbance in Chelmsford resulted in ball bearings being fired from a catapult at a vehicle and a collision.

A 40 year old man from Huntington was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon following the disturbance in the car park of the Count Court at around 11am on Monday April 4th 2011.

This spilled out on to Parkway and New London Road and resulted in ball bearings being fired at a black 4x4 and a collision in Writtle Road.

No one was seriously injured and no firearms were used but ball bearings and a catapult have been recovered.

Officers would like to reiterate this was a very extraordinary event which is far from common in Chelmsford and involved a dispute between people known to each other.

Anyone with any further information is asked to contact detectives at the serious crime team in Chelmsford on 0300 333 4444.
