Police in York are appealing for information after a collision when a car failed to stop at the scene.

It occurred on the roundabout at the junction of Front Street and Gale Lane, Acomb at around 8.20am on Thursday 3 March 2011. It involved a silver Nissan motor car and a bicycle.

As a result of the collision, the 12-year-old boy who was riding the bike was taken to York District Hospital, with minor leg and head injuries, where he was treated before being released.

Although the driver of the Nissan did stop and check for any damage to his vehicle he did not speak with the boy or leave his details.

Police Constable Michael Cooper, of the York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

“Thankfully the boy was not seriously injured. However, the driver of the Nissan could not have known this as he left the scene without checking.

“I urge anyone who witnessed the collision or can identify the driver to contact me, as soon as possible, as I need to speak to them.”

If you can assist with this enquiry please contact PC Michael Cooper at York Police Station on 0845 60 60 24 7 quoting reference number 12110037422. Or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
