The trial of Robin Garbutt, the man accused of murdering his wife in their Melsonby post office, starts today (Monday 21st March 2011.)
The 45 year old will enter the dock at Teesside Crown Court.
He's charged with the murder of his 40 year old wife Diana near a year ago.
Her body was found in the personal living quarters of the post office they ran together in Melsonby near Richmond on March 23rd 2010.
North Yorkshire Police initially treated the incident as an armed robbery.
They appealed for information to catch a man wearing a balaclava and carrying a gun, who had made off with a large amount of money.
But three weeks later their investigation had taken a twist and Robin Garbutt was arrested.
Originally the trial was scheduled to get underway last October, but was delayed whilist tests were carried out on a possible murder weapon.
Robin Garbutt denies murdering his wife.
