The bomb disposal squad's been in York this afternoon (Tuesday 8th March 2011) securing a private residence near Bootham.
They've told Minster FM a possible granade or explosive devise was found.
The "old relick", as it's been described, was discovered during a house clearance of an elderly gentleman.
We're told the Army has now took the item away to conduct a controlled explosion.
North Yorkshire Police have also confirmed the area around Bootham is now safe and their condon has been lifted.
