Man charged with murder in York.

Police in York have charged a 29 year old with the murder of a 40 year old from York

Five people were arrested in connection with a murder investigation following the suspicious death of a 40-year-old man - Mark John Webb.

Officers were called at around 4.15pm on Friday 4 March 2011 following a report that a man was injured at a property in Middleton Road, York. On arrival, they discovered the man with a serious injury.

He was taken by ambulance to York District Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

29 year old man - Charged with Murder.

34 year old man - Released on conditional bail.

30 year old woman - Released on conditional bail.

26 year old Woman - Released without Charge.

49 year old Woman - Released on conditional bail.

The scene of the incident remained under police guard over the weekend to allow forensic investigators to carry out a detailed examination.

Police would like to reassure the local community that this is an isolated incident and there was no risk to other members of the public.  

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation - in particular anyone who was in the area of Stuart Road, Kingsway West, Gayle Road and Middleton Road on Friday afternoon - is urged to contact York CID on 0845 60 60 24 7.
