Murder investigation launched in York

Police in York have arrested five people in connection with a murder investigation following the suspicious death of a 40-year-old man.
Officers were called at around 4.15pm on Friday 4 March 2011 following a report that a man was injured at a property in Middleton Road, York. On arrival, they discovered the man with a serious injury.
He was taken by ambulance to York District Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police arrested a 29-year-old man on Friday evening in connection with the investigation. Following enquiries over the weekend, a 34-year-old man and three women aged 26, 30 and 49 were arrested on Sunday 6 March. All are from the York area.
The 49-year-old woman has been released on conditional bail. The others remain in custody for questioning.
The scene of the incident remained under police guard over the weekend to allow forensic investigators to carry out a detailed examination.
Police would like to reassure the local community that this is an isolated incident and there was no risk to other members of the public.
