The exclusive delights of Pickering have been captured in a new guide.
The Exclusively Pickering guide, produced by Pickering Town Council’s Business Group, will be launched on Friday 4th March 2011 at 6pm in the Beckett Room of Pickering Memorial Hall.
This booklet has been produced with the help of grants from both Pickering Town Council and North Yorkshire County Council.
“The booklet’s purpose is to provide information to both visitors and residents about the retail and trading facilities in the town, with the aim of also encouraging business wellbeing and profitability” said Councillor Joan Lovejoy, Town Mayor of Pickering.
“For example, studies have shown that for every £10 spent in a local independent shop, £25 is generated for the local economy, whereas only £14 remains locally when spent in national supermarkets!
“Thus by highlighting the wide range of local goods and services available, the Business Group hope to improve the local economy and ensure that visitors can easily see all that Pickering has to offer.”
The Exclusively Pickering guide which will also include some useful and interesting insider tips to help both locals and visitors, will be available in the Tourist Information Centre, local shops and hotels as well as bed and breakfast accommodation.
The guide is also available in PDF format on www.pickering.gov.uk
