Its a wheely big problem for York

Plans for a big wheel look like they'll never roll around.

York Museum trust has withdrawn its planning applications.

There are worries about bats living around the proposed site.

They're going to hold a survey in the summer to esablish how many there are.

A clear report can't be carried out now as they're currently hibernating.

Mike Slater, assistant director in City Strategy at City of York Council, said:

"York Museums Trust has withdrawn its planning and related applications, which were due to be considered at tomorrow's (17 February) planning committee meeting.

"The York Museums Trust recently received a "bat scoping survey report"  from their ecologist. The report states that 'in view of the uncertainties surrounding the status of bats using the site, it is strongly recommended that bat activity surveys and remote recording of bat activity is carried out after mid- May.

These surveys cannot be undertaken now as bats are in hibernation and away from their summer roosts.'"
