Cyclist injured in York collision

York police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was injured in the city at 11.45am on Sunday 30th January 2011.
The victim, a 52 year old local man, was travelling along Navigation Road near to the Bretgate turning, when he was hit by a black vehicle travelling towards Walmgate.
He was knocked from his bike and suffered minor facial injuries and bruising to his legs.
PC Hannah Dearden, of York police, said:
“Although his injuries are only minor, the cyclists was left very shaken by the incident.
“Unfortunately, the driver of the black vehicle made off without checking to see if the victim was ok.
“It could be that the driver was unaware that a collision has occurred, however it is still important that we speak to that person to establish the circumstances of the incident.”
