12 year old boy killed in A64 collision

A 12 year old boy has died after being knocked down on the A64 this morning. (Monday 24th January 2011)

It happened just passed the Stones Garage near West Heslerton at 7.40am.

The 12 year old boy, who hasn't yet been named, was crossing the road heading towards a bus stop.

Detective have told Minster FM a Renault Scenic and white Transit van were involved.

The boy was taken to Scarborough General Hospital via ambulance with serious injuries where he sadly died.

The A64 was closed in both directions following the collision.

Traffic Sergeant John Clayton, of the force’s Roads Policing Group, said:

“I am urging anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision to come forward.

“In particular I need to speak to the drivers of two vehicles which passed through the scene a few moments after it occurred and ask them to contact me as soon as possible.”
