Police trace HGV driver on A1

Police are hunting for the driver of a HGV involved in a crash on the A1 last night (Wednesday 12th January 2011)

The driver didn't stop at the scene after colliding with an blue Audi A4.

The crash happened on the northbound carriageway between Dishforth and Leeming.

At around 5:15pm a blue Audi A4 was travelling north in the inside lane near to the Burniston junction.  The lorry, which was tavelling in lane two, indicated and pulled into the inside lane, causing damage to the driver’s side of the Audi. 

The Audi then spun and ended up in the central reservation.

No one was injured, but the Audi was damaged.

The police say it may be that the driver of the HGV is unaware of the collision.
