Man stabbed in York

York police are appealing for witnesses after a man was injured during an incident on George Street.
A 29 year old local man received a small puncture wound to his shoulder when he was attacked at around 2.30pm on Wednesday 12th January 2011.
At this time the police can't confirm what the weapon was.
The victim, who had made his way onto Walmgate, was helped by paramedics and taken to York District Hospital for treatment. However, his injuries were not serious and he has since been released.
A 32 year old man and a 37 year old woman were arrested shortly after the incident and have been released on conditional bail as police enquiries continue.
Detective Sergeant Mark Jackson, of York CID, said:
“This was an unusual occurrence for York and fortunately the victim was not seriously injured.
“It was not a random attack and we managed to locate and arrest two suspects very quickly following the incident.
“I am appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone else who can help the investigation to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information.”
