Diabetics will find out more about their treatment later

diabetes

6:12am 1st December 2010

Diabetics in North Yorkshire will be able to find out more tonight as to how Government spending cuts will effect their treatment.

GPs are now assessing on a case-by-case basis who'll be prescribed self-regulating test strips - a move that will help save NHS North Yorkshire and York around two million pounds.

Catherine Bamford is a Diabetic living in Haxby and is concerned that cuts could make it difficult to cope with her condition.

We're told Insulin dependant type 1 diabetics are unlikely to be affected.

The meeting to discuss the cuts will be at York Hospital from 7.30 tonight.
