Waste incinerator at Allerton Park looks likely to go-ahead
7:53am 30th November 2010
Campaigners, fighting plans for a multi-million pound waste incinerator being built at Allerton Park, are urging councillors to consider their objections.
A crucial meeting takes place later where North Yorkshire County Council and the City of York Council are set to approve the development.
Residents say it's make the county a dumping ground for the whole region.
But council officials say it's a necessary step to stop them getting fines for sending waste to landfill.
Despite the council's argument that something must be done, the 9 thousand residents who've signed a petition aren't going to be happy.
They've told Minster FM "there are less risky ways to deal with waste and we feel this is financial madness."
