Two York teenage girls have been assaulted on their way home from school.
The pair, who're sisters aged 14 and 16, were attacked in separate incidents last Monday and Friday. (Monday 15th November and Friday 19th November 2010)
Both travelled on the Number 1 Wiggington to Chapelfields bus service and were physically attacked when they got off on Haxby Road.
The police have now arrested two girls, aged 13 and 14, in connection with the incidents.
They've been released on bail.
PC Ruth Atkins, of York Police, said:
"While most of the passengers on the buses were school children there were a number of adults on the service bus at the time. I am sure that they will remember the incidents, especially the one that occurred on Monday, as the groups of children were shouting and using offensive language. I ask them to contact me as soon as possible."
Anyone who witnessed either incident is asked contact PC Ruth Atkins at York Police Station on 0845 60 60 24 7 quoting reference number 12100201797. They can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
