A retired York paramedic, who worked for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service for over 30 years, will be commended tonight.
David Hagyard is one of 52 people who'll be praised for their dedication to the emergency services.
David sums up his ambulance service career in three words "privilege, pleasure and pain."
He's told Minster FM it's a privilege to help people, a pleasure to see them recover, and painful when someone sadly dies.
