Fatal A59 collision

Police investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the A59 near Broughton are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The incident occurred at around 5.15pm today (Monday 8th November 2010) when a black Kawasaki motorcycle collided with a silver Ford Mondeo, between Broughton Hall and the A59/A56 junction.
The rider of the motorcycle, a 55 year old man from Keighley, sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision and was taken to Airedale General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at around 9.20am.
The driver of the Mondeo, a 32 year old man from Dewsbury, has been arrested in connection with the incident. He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
The A59 was closed between the A56/59 roundabout and the A59/A629 roundabout as police conducted investigations into the collision.
The road was reopened at around 12.30pm.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to the incident to come forward.
