York's playbuilder schemes secured

A boost for children in York.
The Government's announced we're going to keep 70% of our funding allocation for Playbuilder project, which had been under threat.
It means £371,000 will still be invested in the city.
Councillor Ayre said he was pleased that the Government had listened to his representation. He said,
"I am delighted that the Government have recognised the value of the Playbuilder scheme and decided against large scale cuts in the funding."
"I was very keen to stress the positive impact the Playbuilder scheme has had on the lives of many children in York and the surrounding villages. I am pleased that those arguments have been taken on board and that we have been able to save a such high proportion of the funding."
"Clearly in these difficult economic times some loss of funding was inevitable but I am glad that we have been able to put the case strongly for the benefit this brings to York and get this positive result."
Options for the use of the remaining funding will now be considered before being put before the Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Social Inclusion for a decision.
