Death at Bolton Abbey

An elderly cyclist has died after collapsing at Bolton Abbey.
The 79 year old man, from the Bramhope area of Leeds, was airlifted to the LGI yesterday (Thurs September 30th 2010) after coming off his bike.
He suffered a severe head and chest injuries; this morning he died.
Police are now trying to establish exactly how the victim came to fall off his bike.
Traffic Sergeant John Lumbard, of the Force's Road Policing Group, said:
"At the moment we are trying to establish exactly how the victim came to fall off his cycle and how he sustained his injuries.
"I am appealing for any witnesses to the incident and anyone who may have seen the man cycling around Bolton Abbey estate yesterday afternoon to contact the police with information.
"It is believed that a number of vehicles stopped at the scene of the incident and I would urge the drivers of those vehicles to come forward."
The police are not yet in a position to release the identity of the deceased.
