Improved security at North Yorkshire Police's HQ in Northallerton could be scrapped to save some cash.
£200,000 had been earmarked for the scheme, but that's likely to change due to budget constraints.
A spokesperson for the Police Authority's told Minster FM "in the light of the current economic climate it's not deemed a priority."
A force-wide recruitment freeze also remains in place, with officers unable to apply for promotion until next April.
