York police hunt for two attackers

A CCTV image of two suspects has been released after a man was attacked on Monkgate in York last Friday.

At around 3am two men attacked a 27 year old man from behind and stole £40 from his wallet.

Then in a separate incident the same two men are alleged to have attacked a 24 year old.

On that occasion the victim was taken to hospital with injuries to his face and body.

One of the offenders is described as white, between 24-25 years of age, about 5ft 10in tall, medium to slim build, brown eyes and short dark curly hair. He was wearing a light blue crew necked t-shirt and dark blue jeans.

The second offender was also white, between 18-25 years of age, short blonde spiky hair with defined sideburns. He was wearing a green zip-up tracksuit top with jeans.

DC Vincent Morris, of York CID, said: "The violence used during these cowardly attacks is sickening and has caused a great deal of distress for the two victims and their families

"Someone must know or have a suspicion who these two street robbers are. I ask anyone who thinks they may know their identity to contact York CID as a matter of urgency."

Witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigations should contact York CID on 0845 60 60 24 7 and leave a message for the attention of DC Vincent Morris.
