A 17 year old boy, who died trying to save a friend swept out to sea in Whitby, was on an outing from a psychiatric unit.

The teenager, who's now been named as James Samuel Willis, is believed to have been using an inflatable dinghy when he got into difficulty with two other girls aged 16.

They were on an adult-supervised trip from St Nicholas Hospital in Newcastle; a medium secure psychiatric unit for youths.
