Give Green Presents this Christmas

Give Green Presents this Christmas

5:48am 22nd September 2009

As Minster FM revealed yesterday, most of us want to spend considerably LESS this Christmas than we did last year.

Energy Champion and York Councillor Christian Vassie says if we all give each other money rather than gimmicky presents, we'll save on wrapping paper going to landfill and teach our kids the value of money.

Christian's idea originally came about for kids birthday parties, but can be adapted for the festive period.

He says if we give money rather than cheap unwanted gifts, we'll also be more environmentally friendly and save on wrapping paper.

The average spend on Christmas presents last year, was £320.
