Drugs bust in Thirsk
12:07pm 30th July 2010
A major drugs bust in Thirsk has resulted in two arrests.
A 48 year old man from Middlesbrough and a woman, who's 32 and from Thirsk, were questioned on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and possessing class A drugs.
North Yorkshire Police have also seized two cars from the address on Finkle Street.
They've told us under the Proceeds of Crime Act they can confiscate any money or property suspects may have accumulated through illegal activities.
Sergeant Sharon Findlay, of Thirsk Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "This was a really good result for us and the warrant was coordinated brilliantly by PC Topham and PC Cullen.
"We will not tolerate drugs or drug related crime in Thirsk and I am delighted that we have made two arrests and recovered property worth thousands of pounds.
"Criminals should not be able to live off the proceeds of their crimes and we will do all we can to ensure that we disrupt their illegal activities as much as possible.
"We will continue to target criminals in our area and ensure they don't benefit from their crimes."
The two people arrested have been released on police bail as enquiries continue.
