Row over extending Psychiatric Hospital in York
5:57am 22nd July 2010
Plans to extend a psychiatric hospital in York are coming under fire from local residents.
NHS North Yorkshire and York want to provide 22 extra bedrooms, a small gym and a caef at the Clifton Park Hospital.
People who live on Fylingdales have concerns about mature trees that face the chop, extra traffic and a loss of privacy.
The NHS have told Minster fm
'Our architects and ourselves have worked closely with the council, the Environment Agency and local residents - to minimise the impact of this facility and respond to their concerns.
The building will be sited beyond the minimum distances that the Council normally applies to ensure no loss of privacy.
We'll also be planting over 30 additional trees to replace the few which will be lost as a result of the development.'
Council will decide later whether to give the project the green light.
