Men accused of murdering a Huddersfield shopkeeper in Court

Five men, accused of murdering Huddersfield shopkeeper Gurmail Singh, are up in court.
The convenience store owner was discovered with a serious head wound in February following an alleged botched robbery by a gang of teenagers.
63 year old Gurmail Singh was found after people in a nearby pub heard a commotion at his convenience store in the village of Cowcliffe, near Huddersfield,
He died from head injuries after he was struck at least nine times with a weapon, believed to be a hammer.
Today the 5 men, charged with murder and robbery, are expected to enter their plea.
Men accused are:
20 year old Umare Aslam of Coniston Avenue, Dalton, Huddersfield
20 year old Muawaz Khalid of Blackmoorfoot Road, Huddersfield
20 year old Shoaib Khan of Calton Street, Hillhouse, Huddersfield
18 year old Nabeel Shafi of Park Hill, Bradley, Huddersfield
18 year old Rehman Afzal of Jacinth Court, Fartown, Huddersfield
If they plead not guilty, a preliminary trial date is listed for the end of August - it's expected to last five weeks.
