York's most wanted man has been arrested.
21 year old Martin Cooke was detained by North Yorkshire Police last night, after he was spotted by an officer in the Bootham area.
Cooke's been on the run since May; wanted after breached the terms of his release from prison.
He originally served time for assault and more recently was accused of traffic offences.
Cooke is currently being held in police custody awaiting a transfer back to prison.
Superintendent Lisa Winward, Safer Neighbourhood Commander of York, said:
"It is very satisfying that Cooke has been apprehended and now has to face up to his actions. I would like to thank the people of York for the great deal of information given to the police during our efforts to track him down. I also thank the local media for their valued assistance in giving the appeal such prominence. This high level of engagement between the public, police, the Safer York Partnership and the local media allows us all, as a community, to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in York."
