More reports of animal cruelty in the North of England
7:20am 6th July 2010
Animal cruelty in the north of England has seen the number of calls to the RSPCA rocket over the last 6 months.
Activity on the charity's 24-hour hotline has almost doubled since January.
Dogs in hot cars, animals wounded by airguns and pets abandoned during the holiday period are some of the key concerns.
Staff say they're working as hard as they can to deal with all of the cases.
