Operation Drystone a success in North Yorkshire
8:31am 10th May 2010
An arrest ever 28 hours. That what North Yorkshire Police's Operation Drystone has achieved since it launched in October 2008.
Drystone was created to crackdown on drug dealers and burglars and even target antisocial behaviour and garden thefts. The idea was by having more bobbies on the beat, in high visibility patrols, it would drive down the impact of crime.
The North Yorkshire Police Authority's today reviewing the operation - naming Pickering as an area that directly benefitted.
To put it into prospective, over the last 18 months 549 arrests have been made in the county, £48,000 seized and over 370 fixed penalty notices have been served.
