Business rates in York up for discussion

A revaluation of business rates in York could be on the cards.
Steps to reduce the financial burden on small firms is being discussed at a full council meeting tonight.
Council Leader Andrew Waller, who thinks rates should be based on a site's value rather than it's rental value. He has told Minster FM "A reform of business rates in York is necessary to introduce a fairer system".
It comes, after several traders in the city have complained they're being forced out of business.
Some have seen prices go up by as much as 300%.
