More people reporting domestic abuse in York and Selby

There's calls on the Government to provide more funding for specialist domestic violence services in York and Selby.

The latest stats show there's been a 26% rise in reported incidents here, when comparing 2008 to 2009.

Between April and December last year, 2272 cases were investigated. That's in comparison to 18-hundred in 2008.

Now this doesn't mean North Yorkshire's a more violent place, just that more people are coming forward.

If you need help Daisy Chain, a domestic abuse charity in Selby, can be contacted on 01757 291111
