Attempts are being made to free York Soldier Joe Glenton.

Lance Corporal Joe Glenton, joined the Army in 2004 but absconded in 2007 after serving with the Royal Logistic Corps in Afghanistan.

The 27 year old admitted going absent without leave and was sentenced to 9 months in a military corrective training unit last week.

Now an appeal is set to be lodged against  sentence. His wife Claire told Minster fm they believe the sentence was too long and others in the same situation had been given lesser sentences. In addition they say the Judge did not take any notice of Joe's post traumatic stress disorder.

Glenton is currently in a military corrective training unit after refusing to return to duty in Afghanistan.
