Man suffers life-threatening injuries in Raskelf collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision at Raskelf.
At around 10.55pm on Sunday 28 December 2014, a silver Nissan Almera came off the road outside Raskelf Farm Cottages.
The driver, a 40-year-old man from Easingwold, was trapped in his car and was cut free by the fire and rescue service.
He sustained serious head and facial injuries in the collision and was taken to York Hospital for treatment before being transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary. His condition is described as life-threatening.
The road was closed in both directions while police carried out a detailed examination of the scene. It was reopened at 4.05am on Monday 29 December 2014.
Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the silver Nissan Almera prior to the incident to get in touch.

* While police were at the scene of the collision, thieves stole a set of blue lights which officers had put on top of cones to make the scene visible to other road users and to ensure the safety of emergency services staff.
