Dustman Critical After Bin Lorry Collision in Norton

Malton police are appealing for information after a man was critically injured in a road traffic collision near the town.
It occurred shortly after 1pm on Friday 7 November 2014, on Riverside View, Norton.
The collision involved a refuse collection lorry and a 53-year-old dustman, who was working on the collection at the time.
Ryedale Council has told Minster FM in a statement:
"An incident occurred in Norton on Friday 7 November 2014 which involved a refuse vehicle driver and operative employed by Ryedale District Council
It is too early to speculate on the cause of the incident and an investigation will be undertaken.
Our understanding is that the worker is poorly but expected to make a full recovery and our concerns are for the worker's welfare."
As a result of the incident the binman suffered serious injuries and was taken to James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough where he remains in a critical condition.
Traffic Constable Gareth Gilleard, of the Force’s Roads Policing Group, said: “If you witnessed the collision I urge you to come forward and contact the police straight away, as you may have information which could help this enquiry.”
