Britain’s youngest brass band conductor is a teenager from York.

16 year old Jack Capstaff, who goes to Huntington School, has been appointed the Musical Director of the York Railway Institute Golden Rail Band.

Before that the record was held by his brother Nicholas, who became a conductor aged 19.

And despite only having been in the role breifly Jack’s already made an impression.

This Sunday he'll judge the prestigious Yorkshire Regional Championships in Bradford, where he will sit on the youth panel.
