Malton Police Station Could Be Sold Off
2:49pm 9th October 2014
Malton's police station could be sold off with officers moving next door into Ryedale Council's headquarters to save money.
The plans were revealed at a meeting of North Yorkshire's Police and Crime Panel today.
North Yorkshire Police Commissioner Julia Mulligan spoke to Minster FM's Kevin Larkin about the reasons behind the idea.
It comes as North Yorkshire Police also looks at creating "investigation hubs" in York and Scarborough. The force says these hubs will allow crimes to be investigated more quickly and speed up the justice process. It's also hoped the hubs will cut paperwork work and get officers back on the beat.
Chief Constable Dave Jones gave Minster FM's Kevin Larkin his thoughts on the idea of closing Malton Police Station.
