It occurred between 7pm on Sunday 21 September and 8am on Monday 22 September 2014, at Tadcaster Household Waste Recycling, Station Road.

The thieves stole a large number of car batteries, valued at several hundred pounds.

PC Heather Wilkinson, of Tadcaster Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

“If you were in the area of the recycling centre during the time of the burglary, I ask you to come forward if you noticed anyone acting in a suspicious manner."

“I am also keen to speak to anyone who has been offered batteries in unusual circumstances and ask that they get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone who can assist this investigation should contact Tadcaster police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Heather Wilkinson. Alternatively, information can be emailed to heather.wilkinson@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.

Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting reference number 12140162921.
