Cow "Safe & Happy" After Hemingbrough River Rescue

Firefighters say a cow is "safe and happy" after being rescued from the River Derwent in Hemingbrough this morning.

Selby fire crews were called out were called at 10.04am after the cow being came stuck in water near Hagworth Hall, off Hull Road in Hemingbrough.

They spent more than three hours rescuing her using tools including the rescue boat, strops, lines and farmers' tools.

Around half an hour earlier, firefighters in York rescued five sheep from a brook leading to the River Ouse on Linton Woods Lane in Linton on Ouse.

They were rescued using strops.
