Wakefield Wildcats player fails drugs test

5:39pm 22nd February 2010

Terry Newton has been banned from all rugby for two years and had his
contract at Wakefield cancelled with immediate effect.

The former Great Britain rugby league hooker has admitted using human growth hormone after failing a drugs test.

Until now, HGH had been difficult to detect.

UK Anti-Doping boss Andy Parkinson says catching Newton represents a major
breakthrough.
