Decision on York Lendal Bridge Refund Process Next Week
5:09pm 28th July 2014
A decision on the process for drivers to claim their Lendal Bridge fine money back will be made next Tuesday.
It will be made at a special meeting of York Council's cabinet, if approved it will then clear the way for a date to be announced for drivers to claim their money back.
The council is currently working on what it says will be a "simple application process" which will also protect the authority from false claims for a refund. A date for it to be launched has not been revealed but the council says that will happen in the "coming weeks".
The authority is again telling fined motorists that they should not contact the council for a refund until the official refund process is launched.
There will be no refunds to drivers fined for breaking the traffic restrictions at Coppergate. The council is continuing with it's appeal on the decision by a government traffic judge that it was illegal to issue fines at Coppergate, however the appeal has been dropped with regards to Lendal Bridge.
