Appeal After Students Threatened in York

At around 1.20am in the early hours Friday 18 July 2014, the two male students were sat talking next to the Goldmine shop on Haxby Road in York.
The were approached by a man and a woman who engaged them in conversation, after a short time, the victim offered them a roll-up cigarette from a pouch of tobacco.
The male suspect then threatened to steal the pouch of tobacco, using a bicycle D-lock to threaten the victim.
After making the threats, the man and woman then left the area, walking up Haxby Road, out of the city, taking the tobacco with them.
The male suspect is described as white, aged between 18 to 23, approximately 5’9” to 5’10” in height, of a slim build, with very short, hair. He was wearing a grey or blue matching long sleeved top and bottoms and was carrying a black or dark blue coloured D-Lock, approximately one foot in length.
The woman is described as white, aged between 18 to 23 years old, approximately 5’4” to 5’5” in height, of stocky build, with blond highlighted hair in a ponytail which was shoulder length.
She had silver hooped earrings in each ear, which were three or four inches in diameter. She was wearing a knee-length dress with brown and black flowers on a beige background. She also wore a short cropped cardigan which had short sleeves, brown or black in colour and was carrying a large, brown or black shoulder bag with long straps.
Police are appealing for anyone who can help identify the suspects or has any other information about the incident, to contact them.
